A late 20th-century ring inspired by a beloved Victorian style, that itself took cues from further antiquity, this gold band is styled as what is typically known as a "keeper" ring. It's debated whether the name and function comes from a practice of giving the simple, though often woven, gold bands as a pre-betrothal ring to indicate your intended is a keeper, or as a less-expensive ring worn on top of the betrothal ring to keep it in place - either way, the keeper ring generally came to be what we now consider the wedding band. The woven or braided style harkens back to early, pre-goldsmithing rings, made of woven reeds or leathers. While the style is no longer among the most popular as a wedding band, they're detailed enough to wear alone or a beautiful touch of texture and depth in a ring stack.

Very good vintage condition with minimal wear and relatively recent polish.
