Devastating Estate Diamond Riviera Necklace
This diamond necklace is an absolutely breathtaking piece that you will always treasure. Stone-set necklaces featuring graduated gemstones - often called rivière or riviera necklaces - have been popular since at least the mid-1800s, and flatter a variety of necklines. This estate piece has been constructed with illusion settings: each diamond sits in its own concave cup-like setting, with tiny gold beads raised up to hold the stones secure. Called illusion settings for their ability to make the diamond appear larger, they give the impression of a bigger stone by mimicking, from a distance, bezel settings but with a larger diameter and covering less of the diamonds' visible surface area. The front portion of the necklace has each link attached on an angle to create a fixed curve in the front that prevents the necklace from flipping over while worn.
Good estate condition with wear in line with age and use, including a few small chips to diamonds that are not noticeable when worn (and have been factored into the price).
