A lovely delicate little ring, this band has clearly been well loved and well worn. Evidence of her original detailing is still visible: when new, this band would have been decorated all around with engraved orange blossoms, broken up by smoother panels, perhaps with a linear detail.

While the tradition of gifting orange blossoms for a wedding reaches back to Greek and Roman mythology, naturally it was Queen Victoria who reignited the craze when she wore a wreath of orange blossoms in her wedding to Prince Albert. The flower has been said to represent fertility for its association with bearing fruit, purity for its white blossoms, and eternal love for its source on an evergreen tree. Orange blossom-decorated eternity bands were a mainstay of the Deco period, surging in popularity in the 1920s and 1930s.

Worn down with age, just the centres of the flowers remain with an almost sunshine-like shape to each one, which is beautifully charming as well.

Good but very worn near-antique condition, like a perfectly broken in pair of jeans.
