Compelling Victorian Enamel Trilogy Ring

This breathtaking ring, though minimal in design, is dramatic in execution. Inky black enamel covers the face of the ring, showing only the high contrast gold at the edges and around the diamond-shaped settings. The old mine cut diamonds within are likewise a high contrast, bright white with soft, cushiony silhouettes and chunky, vibrant facets. On each shoulder the enamel comes to a point, echoing the points of the stones' frames, and sharply transitioning to the high karat gold that makes up the thick, sturdy band. Though this ring has not been personalized with an inscription, black enamelling was largely reserved for mourning jewelry of the era (the Victorian Grand Period of 1861-1885). That the three-stone motif was commonly used to represent past, present, and future makes the symbolism of the materials even more poignant.

Very good antique condition with wear in line with age and use, including very minor chips and scratches to enamel and wear to gold.

Please keep in mind that enamel should not be exposed to chemicals, including alcohols/hand sanitizers, shampoos, chlorine, and cleaners and solvents.
