Ideal Vintage 22k and Platinum Band
For millennia, the precious metal has been associated with with the glow and power of the sun, and high karat gold makes the connection clear. The saturated hue has a beautiful warmth and shine. Tucked inside this particular midcentury band is an icy secret - an inner layer of platinum lines the band to rest softly against your skin. These bands, while not unheard of, were certainly not the standard offered and feel just that little bit more chic for their twist on a classic.
Gold alloys are softer in higher karats, so this old ring has developed some lovely wear over its lifetime with all the little scratches and dings that can't be replicated in a modern piece. While regular band rings are easy to resize, and often bear evidence of past resizing, we don't recommend it for this ring as that beautiful patina would be lost, and for the added difficulty of the high heat required for platinum.
We just adore the quiet luxury of high karat gold and platinum - a simple, stoneless band in a completely timeless style.
