Clair de Lune Vintage Moonstone Ring

This lovely vintage ring boasts a clean, minimal design - and in fact appears likely to have been a conversion piece, with a finely tapered band added to a bezelled stone in order to give it new life. The moonstone has a lovely blue schiller - the distinctive effect where a light seems to float over the stone, caused by internal reflection from the layered mineral structure. Distinct too are the few scattered inclusions in an otherwise clear stone: these tiny zigzag-like internal fractures are likewise caused by the stone's layered composition and unique to moonstone! Despite the earthy groundedness to these features, this gemstone can't help but have a dreamy celestial quality like its namesake.

Good vintage condition with reasonable wear to gold and stone.

• 18k yellow gold (tested), with what appear to be French hallmarks
• Size 8.75-9 (flat top) and can be resized within two sizes
• One oval moonstone cabochon approximately 10x7mm
• Face of ring measures 10.9mm wide, 8mm across, with a rise of 5.6mm; back of band measures 2.1mm wide and 0.6mm thick
