Like an airy dream, this delicate little piece is a wonderful and feminine ring. Die stamping technology, popular in the early 20th century, allows this ring to have delicate filigree-like wire work and a softly doming volume while remaining lightweight and sturdy. The ring is signed by American manufacturers J.R. Wood and Sons, who were already well established out of Brooklyn, Chicago, and San Francisco by the deco period, having been established in 1850. Centering on a nearly ten point old European cut diamond, the shape and polish of the mount are intended to give the illusion of a larger diamond within a bright milgrained frame.
