Bold Art Deco Triple Row Ring
Bold Art Deco Triple Row Ring
A stunning ring in classic Art Deco style, this piece showcases geometric design with a pop of colour. The early 20th century's developments in alloying and goldsmithing saw the introduction of platinum (and white gold) and those white metals quickly overtook yellow gold in popularity in the Deco era. With a focus on white as the primary base for a piece of fine jewelry (think platinum, diamonds, and pearls), designers looked to the likewise newly introduced synthetic gems to add a flourish of colour. Truly synthetic rubies, sapphires, and spinels (as opposed to imitation gemstones) were cutting edge technology and their ability to be produced in exactly matching shades made them the perfect choice for designers working in a highly geometric and precise style. This three-row ring evokes both antique harem styles and the at the time contemporary flip (or day and night) rings, with a row of diamonds flanked by vivid rubies.
Good antique condition with noticeable wear in line with age and use, including evidence of past resizing, and of repair at shoulders and along one edge where a ruby has been replaced.
