Lockets have been around in some form or another for hundreds of years. They emerged from jewels that might be more accurately described as vessels - meant to hold perfumes or tinctures or herbs. The locket as a holder of keepsakes - portraits (photographic or earlier), hair, and the like - rose in popularity in the 19th century and has been particularly popular during wartimes ever since, as a way to hold close to you those who are physically far. We love that this piece can hold two images double sided, or even a physical token like a pressed flower or lock of hair. We've tucked a little cut out from Stay Home Club to help show what an image looks like from behind the panel.
