High-karat old gold bands are an absolute favourite of ours, and this charming 156-year-old band is no exception. For millennia, the precious metal has been associated with with the glow and power of the sun, and high karat gold makes the connection clear. The saturated hue has a beautiful warmth and shine.

Full British hallmarks place this ring in Victoria's Birmingham, assayed in 1862 with the maker's mark H.S., and we love to think that this ring has represented many a marriage since.

Gold alloys are softer in higher karats, so this old ring has developed some lovely wear over its lifetime with all the little scratches and dings that can't be replicated in a modern piece. While sizing is possible, it is important to know that it's often difficult to match the exact colour of antique alloys, as well as the risk of losing the charming wear and patina on the surface of the metal.

This ring makes a classic wedding band, anniversary gift, or a perfect addition to any ring stack as it is a truly timeless style.
