A perfect duo, this charm features both horseshoe and nail. While many are familiar with the association of the horseshoe with luck, Pliny the Elder actually advised that three horseshoe nails (not the horseshoe itself, which remains more common to date) be hammered above the door for luck and protection. Consider the nail's purpose, binding two parts - most especially binding the horseshoe and its luck - and it's no surprise that the motif has also been common in rings, with early versions fashioned out of iron to symbolize a bond and draw in good luck, and popular brands continuing to the tradition in finer metals today.
And fine, we admit a bias when it comes to our love of this piece - our shop's namesake, St. Eloi, was not only the patron saint of goldsmiths, but of blacksmiths and equestrians as well!
Good vintage condition with wear in line with age and use.
