This striking and sparkling cocktail ring from the 1950s draws clear inspiration from the 1920s, with its voluminous shape, filigree-like detail, and pops of calibre-cut sapphires. These plush and plump ring styles - bombe or bombé (alternatively credited to the French "bombe glacée" dessert or the French for bomb-shaped) - date back to the Edwardian and Art Deco periods, with a major revival in the midcentury, though they also draw inspiration from rounded styles as early as the Georgian era. This one, with crisp round brilliant diamonds and natural sapphires, is a delightful vintage rendition.
