Dramatic Victorian Amethyst Inlay Ring

A beautiful, character-filled antique ring, this rich amethyst piece is no shrinking violet. The stone has a subtle design carved into the otherwise flat face - a style known as intaglio and popular in signet rings - and the centre is set with a small gold floral pattern centred around a seed pearl. Evocative in style of the popular Victorian "rose of Sharon" rings, but with a carving that looks more like a modified fleur-de-lys, this large amethyst's broad, smooth surface is perfectly enhanced by a plethora of prongs, foliate carvings on the shoulder, and a fluted band made more dramatic by the patina of over a hundred years' wear.

Fair antique condition with reasonable wear for age, including a chip to one corner of amethyst that is small from above, but reaches around the girdle and about halfway down the pavilion of the stone. We've included macro photos to show the extent of the chip, but it is far less noticeable on the hand and in person - please don't hesitate to reach out for more photos of videos if needed. Some visible epoxy around the gold inlay from a past repair, and reasonable wear to the pearl for age.
