Beautiful vintage French love token, in a rare perfectly-proportioned ring version. Originally created by Alphonse Augis c. 1907, and inspired by a letter poet Rosemonde Gérard wrote to her husband, the writer Edmond Rostand, central medallion features a rebus reading "+ qu'hier - que demain" for the lines,
"Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t'aime davantage,
Aujourd'hui plus qu'hier et bien moins que demain."
(For, you see, each day I love you more,
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.)
The beautiful sentiment lends itself perfectly to a lover, a child, or a friend - on anniversaries, birthdays, or simply any day. We also love this piece as an engagement ring or placeholder for the couple looking to choose a ring together.
These love tokens are widely reproduced and imitated, but the quality of the Maison Augis medallions (always die struck and never cast) have made them a very collectible piece, even after over 100 years of production and many style variations. The rings are considerably harder to find than the pendants and make a wonderful addition to any collection.
This ring is a fairly rare authentic piece by Maison Augis, and considerably smaller than many of the versions currently available on the vintage market. It is in very good vintage condition, and the most comfortable and wearable ring version we've come across - slim, low profile, and perfect for every day. Minor evidence of wear including some thinning at the back of the band.

• 18k yellow gold, with French eagle's head hallmark and Maison Augis trademark on outside of band
• Size 7 3/4 and do not recommend resizing up but could be resized down within one size
• 1 baguette-cut synthetic ruby
• Face of ring measures 10.3mm wide, 9.6mm across, with a rise of 3.3mm; back of band measures 2.3mm wide and 0.5mm thick
