A dream of '80s excess, with a plump, bright white "moval" diamond casually a-lean within a heavy, diamond-studded bypass frame of swooping gold. The moval is an informal name for a unique category of (often antique) diamonds that seem to split the difference between a rounded marquise and a long, lean oval - and this one maximizes finger coverage through its proportions and orientation on the ring. 

The marquise cut has experienced waves of popularity through her lifespan: said to have been designed c. 1745, in Paris for King Louis XV, who requested a diamond in the shape of his mistress' smile, the stone has inspired designers (and frustrated stone setters) ever since, reaching peak popularity in the Art Deco era and its revivals of the 1950s and 1980s.
