This heavy gold ring summons all the power of thousands of years of tradition within the history of the signet ring. Since at least 1400 BCE, signet or seal rings have been tools (serving as signature or seal) as much as they have been markers of status, and the weight and craftsmanship of a sturdy engraved piece will make you feel that immediately. 

Good vintage condition with wear in line with previous use. Appears to have had a sleeve of gold insert in the band to reinforce the shank, which would have obscured previous hallmarks. Hallmarks applied to inserted bands, but face of ring appears to be older (c1930s and later c1960s). Crest is of a winged and crowned heart with motto "Forward," and appears to belong to the Douglas (Killhead, Bart) family.
