Good vintage condition with wear in line with age and use. Seal depicts a bird (possibly an eagle, a swan, or a phoenix) on a ducal coronet and the Latin motto, “Victor in Arduis,” a conqueror in difficult things. The seal resembles those associated with the families James (Essex, Kent, and Surrey), or possible Parkyns, while the motto is linked to the McConnell family. Inside, hand engraved, reads Whitcutt (from Scottish “white cottage”).
