This dazzling Victorian ring stars a cluster of chunky old cut diamonds styled in a halo and like an early predecessor to the daisy-style clusters that were so popular at the turn of the century and into the early 20th. With a beautiful silver mount, the face of the ring presents as a wall of diamonds upon your finger. The expertly constructed settings are what's called a cut-down collet, with a bezel filed down to leave a fine rim of metal and raised prongs, giving the effect of a pinched ring of silver for each stone. While past repairs have lost the deep patina these rings often have, in time and with patience and love, that darkened look will build back up as the silver oxidizes.
Very good antique condition. Band likely partially reshanked at one point and ring subsequently polished. Eight of ten halo diamonds have small to medium chips, but all stones are original to ring. Very faint engraving inside band appears to read "1866". Includes third party appraisal C$10,865. Ring originally made in UK.
