Often imitated and rarely encountered in their original form, it's no wonder the Art Deco target ring is still one of the favourite styles to come from the era. The pop of colour combined with the sparkle of diamonds and geometric precision is eye-catching in every iteration. The target style is an inverse of the popular halo look, with a central diamond surrounded by coloured stones. What sets this particular ring apart in a crowded field is that the diamond is a beautiful and flattering marquise cut, a shape and facet pattern developed in Paris c.1745 for King Louis XV, who requested a diamond in the shape of his mistress' smile. The stone has inspired designers (and frustrated stone setters) ever since, with particular waves of popularity in the Art Deco era and its revivals in the 1950s, 1980s, and today.

Good antique condition with wear in line with age and use, including wear to stones (one ruby cracked but secure; replacing the ruby would necessitate an entire refurbishment that is not strictly necessary) and gold, and visible past resizing and thinning.
