Sometimes called a "boat ring" for the smooth marquise shape of the setting, five stone rings with a tapered face like this were very popular in Victorian England, carrying over into the Edwardian period as well. The graduated stones create a shape with a central focal point as well as flattering finger coverage - a ring like this is a wonderful choice for an engagement ring or a wedding band - or for the efficient jewelry lover, both in one!
Very good antique condition with wear in line with age and use, including evidence of past resizing.
Details:
• 18k yellow gold, with British hallmarks for Birmingham 1912, maker's mark A.H. (please not that past resizing has resulted in the loss of the crown portion of the purity stamp)
• Size 7 and can be resized within one size
• Five old European cut diamonds
• Face of ring measures 5.1mm wide, 14mm across, with a rise of 2.8mm; back of band is 1.6mm wide and 0.5mm thick
