Romantic Art Deco Sapphire Toi et Moi Ring

Soft and delicate swirls of white gold cradle two deep blue sapphires in this charming Art Deco ring. Twin stone rings like this are often called "toi et moi" rings - french for "you and me," with a stone represented the giver and the receiver each.
In 1796, Napoleon Bonaparte proposed to Joséphine de Beauharnais with a toi et moi ring (featuring a sapphire and a diamond), and the style has remained in fashion with occasional surges in popularity to this day. Often the stones are set at an angle or in a complementary fashion, but there's something about this particular design that speaks to us - we love the way the two stones are set straight and level, appearing as two equal partners facing the world side by side.
Beautiful scrolling filigree style details and hand engraving along the shoulders and gallery make this ring a pleasure to look at from any angle. The ring appears to be die-struck, creating delicate-looking designs in a durable and dense construction.
Details:
• 14k white gold, unmarked - please note that there is some warmer tones from solder where the settings have been retipped in the past, but if this bothers you the ring could easily be rhodium plated for a bright white finish
• Size 6+, just a shade larger but not quite 6 3/8, can be resized
• Two natural sapphires with an approximate diameter of of 3.8mm; the depth of one is about 2mm and the other closer to 2.3mm
• Rise off finger is 4.3mm, the face of the ring measures 6mm wide and 11mm long, the back of band is tapered to 1.5mm wide and 1.2mm thick
• 2.1g
