Low profile, textured gold, and a bright old cut diamond - this ring checks all of our boxes! We love the loose pattern created from chasing the metal (creating texture by hammering various tool ends into the gold) and the way it contrasts with the smooth faces of the shoulder's flat planes. The ultra-low profile makes the piece a dream for everyday wear, and keeps it comfortable between the fingers as well.

We've been studying the slightly worn stamp inside the band and, to us, it looks very close to the mark of H. Kroll & Company, a New York-based manufacturer founded in 1868. This particular ring has near twins in an H. Kroll & Co advertisement for ring mountings from The Keystone (a jeweller's magazine) from 1906!

• Face of ring measures 6.4mm wide with a rise of 2.5mm, back of band tapers to 1.8mm wide and 0.8mm thick
