Slithering Vintage Herringbone Necklace

We are completely in love with this sexy, slinky, gold chain! The herringbone chain has been through something of an evolution over its time, from wide blocky individual links to a tight zipper-like style. This version sits somewhere in the middle, with noticeable individual links coming together in a broad, flat style. The sinuous movement of each link means that the drape is just right - falling along your neck like liquid gold. Though 20" long, the chain tends to settle a little rounder and as such a little higher on the neck as it moves about through the day.

Vintage and estate herringbone chains can be difficult to find, as they were the bane of jewellers' existence - without proper care, the links could become bent and "kinked," at which point the shape couldn't be seamlessly repaired, so many were sent to melt. This beautiful specimen is in perfect, smooth condition, and will remain that way with a little TLC: be sure you're not hanging pendants from flat chains, nor sleeping (or for that matter, showering/swimming/working out) in them, and when you're not wearing them always carefully lay them flat rather than tossing them in your jewelry box.
