Soft Antique Diamond Belcher Ring

This gorgeous petite ring has clearly been well loved for over a hundred years - once crisp and intricate engraving has softened to a burnished hint of a pattern, the back of the band has lost some of its heft, but the bright old cut diamond at is centre continues to sparkle. The belcher setting is recognizable for its soft rise from band into prongs shaped by removing metal into a scallop-like pattern, creating petals of negative space around the stone that draw the eye in. A favourite style from the late 19th century into the 1930s and 1940s, we continue to love it for its low-rise comfort today.

Good antique condition with wear in line with age and use.

• 18k yellow gold, with British hallmarks for Chester 1904, maker's mark lost 
• Size 5 (slightly out of round) and can be resized within 2 sizes
• One early old European cut diamond, approximately 0.10 carat
• Face of ring measures 8.6mm wide, 8mm across, with a rise of 3.1mm; back of band measures 2.4mm wide and 0.9mm thick
• 4.0g
