Substantial Retro Greyhound Signet

This beautiful and heavyweight signet ring is made all the more charming by the smoothing and wear to its face: this was a ring that was loved and worn, and you're sure to find yourself compelled to the same! Engraved on the face is a seated greyhound, with single front paw lifted at a figure whose detail is mostly lost. The dog's athletic form and slim, streamlined tail curled up past its haunch are plainly evidence in the depth and care taken in detailing the engraving. While we've yet to track down the family or organization this fine ring is associated with, it obviously held great sentimental value. In general, dogs have been used for thousands of years on crests and in heraldry to connote loyalty and integrity.

Very good vintage condition with wear in line with age and use, including loss of detail to engraved face and evidence of past resizing.

• Size 4.5 (slightly out of round) and can be resized within 2 sizes
• Face of ring is 13.9mm wide, 12mm across, with a rise of 2.2mm; back of band measures 2.9mm wide and 1.1mm thick
