An utterly outstanding ring from about the 1930s, featuring a diamond that predates the mount it sits in. Delicately detailed shoulders, each featuring the unique geometry of a pair of diamonds in round bezels nestled with a single diamond in a diamond-shaped setting, and a buckle-like split that eases back into the band. In the centre, a deep, lively old European cut diamond adds warmth to the all-white ring - this diamond cut, with its large culet, petal-like pavilion facets, and deep crown would have already been out of date by the time this ring was made. By the 1930s, the old Euro had tightened up into the transitional cut of the Deco era and into the modern brilliant cut - we suspect that, like so many engagement rings across history, this diamond was an heirloom that was set into a then-modern setting and given new life to celebrate a new love. Very good vintage condition with moderate wear commensurate with age and evidence of past sizing.
