Sweet Vintage Heart Bloodstone Ring

One of our favourite features of bloodstone - a variety of polycrystalline quartz named for its unique appearance - is that no two specimens are ever exactly alike. Recognized for its deep green near-opaque field ("jasper," the quartz material) shot through with red from iron oxides, there's no wonder that for millennia its admirers have believed it to wield great power. Thought at various times to promote rapid healing (and prevent wounds), to confer strength (and even invisibility!), and to encourage creativity; these features are just as likely as its striking, dramatic beauty to be responsible for its continued popularity.

This ring features a delightfully unusual heart-shaped stone in warm rosy gold - a romantic twist on a dramatic stone, that, while perfectly suited to love and heartbreak, has been more traditionally associated with the ties of family, military, and academia and not romantic feelings.

Good near-antique condition with wear in line with age and use, evidence of past resizing at both shoulders (leaving hallmarks intact).
