The navette - French for little boat - is a style of cluster ring with a distinct elongated shape tapered at both ends. Set north-south on a band like this, the design is beloved for the finger-lengthening effect and vivid sparkle of a cluster alike. The chunky old mine and Peruzzi cut diamonds, hand-facetted by master diamond cutters, were designed to maximize the yield of the rough diamond and to sparkle under the common lighting conditions of the time - certainly in sunlight, though a ring like this was meant to truly come alive in evening by candlelight and lamplight. Big broad facets on deep stones catch the light and return vividly refracted and dispersed rainbows that will completely captivate you. While the silver face of the ring - commonly paired with yellow gold for centuries before the early 1900s introduction of platinum and white gold - brightens the diamonds, warmth is brought back in with a soft yellow gold band with charming split shoulders.

Good antique condition with some wear to head of ring and likely later reshank. Includes third-party appraisal.
