An American pendant inspired by the well-loved French love tokens, created and popularized by Alphonse Augis and inspired by a letter poet Rosemonde Gérard wrote to her husband, the writer Edmond Rostand, the pendant features a rebus reading "+ qu'hier - que demain" for the lines,

"Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t'aime davantage,
Aujourd'hui plus qu'hier et bien moins que demain."

(For, you see, each day I love you more,
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.)

This version is made by the American company Danecraft, founded around 1951 in Providence, Rhode Island. While we hate to tease our American neighbours, this iteration believes bigger is better and has lost the effect of the rebus in translation, with some redundancy in "(plus) plus qu'hier (moins) moins que demain." The reverse of the pendant features the full English translation as well.

The beautiful sentiment lends itself perfectly to a lover, a child, or a friend - on anniversaries, birthdays, or simply any day. We also love this piece as an engagement ring placeholder for the couple looking to choose a ring together, or a special gift on your wedding day.
