While charms commemorating travel and vacations surged in popularity in the midcentury, it's not uncommon - though it can be confusing! - to find British-made pieces clearly intended to celebrate another location, such as this delightful little kangaroo. While Australia is of course a former British colony and current member of the Commonwealth, the nation has long had a thriving jewelry industry and would have no need for British-made charms. Perhaps this miniature marsupial was intended for expats looking for a reminder of home rather than Brits traveling abroad!
