Vivid Pearl and Ruby Art Deco Ring

A gorgeous and vibrant ring styled as a modern take on a toi et moi ring. The toi et moi (French for "you and me,") is an endlessly romantic style featuring twin stones, executed here in a lovely symmetrical rendition featuring bright synthetic rubies and cultured pearls.

While "synthetic" and "cultured" are words that aren't often wanted used with gemstones in this day and age, it's important to remember that in the early 20th century these would have been positively cutting edge technologies: synthetic rubies created using Verneuil's process came to market in 1903 and the first cultured pearls were marketed by Mikimoto in 1916. Early synthetic and cultured stones in jewelry were the perfect blend of technology and art, and we love the way they have made beautiful treasures accessible.
