Wide Vintage 22k Band 6 1/8 1963
Wide Vintage 22k Band 6 1/8 1963
For millennia, the precious metal has been associated with the glow and power of the sun, and high karat gold makes the connection clear. The saturated hue has a beautiful warmth and shine.
Gold alloys are softer in higher karats, so this old ring has developed some lovely wear over its lifetime with all the little scratches and dings that can't be replicated in a modern piece. While band rings are easy to resize, and often bear evidence of past resizing, we don't recommend it for this ring as that beautiful patina would be lost. The inside of this ring bears a clear, full set of British hallmarks dating it to Birmingham 1962/63 (the stamp rolled over mid-year), maker's mark H.S, along with a stamp for the letter L - stock rings were often stamped with their size to help jewellers quickly locate what they were looking for, and a clue to us this ring has been previously sized.
We just adore the quiet luxury of high karat gold - a simple, stoneless band in a completely timeless style.
Very good vintage condition.
