Wonderful Antique Flat Cut Garnet Half Hoop
Wonderful Antique Flat Cut Garnet Half Hoop
Flat-cut garnet rings from the Georgian and Victorian eras, while popular at the time, have become incredibly covetable with today's antique aficionados and jewelry collectors for good reason. Striking and dramatic, yet ultimately quite wearable despite their age and special care considerations (see below), they continue to blend a certain chicness with an almost witchy mysteriousness. Each stone is held within a pinched frame of closed-back gold, set so low on the finger from their unique cut, and traditionally finished with a band decorated in a chased pattern whose effect is subtly floral.
Good antique condition with wear in line with age and use, including wear to stones and gold and visible past resizing.
Please keep in mind that every effort must be taken to avoid getting closed-back and foiled rings wet; water and any liquids getting beneath the stones may irreparably damage the ring.

• Face of ring measures 5.5mm wide, 18.5mm across, with a rise of 2.8mm; back of band measures 1.5mm wide and 0.9mm thick
